MCA497 - The only pan-specific macrophage marker that recognizes microglia
The F4/80 antigen has been well characterized and referenced as an excellent marker for almost all mature mouse macrophages and blood monocytes. Clone C1:A3-1 (MCA497) is the original monoclonal against the F4/80 antigen, with the added benefit of recognizing microglia in the brain for neurological studies. Today, AbD Serotec is the primary distributor of this antibody offering new RPE-Alexa 647 and RPE-Alexa 750 tandem conjugates for flow cytometry.
